Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Penelope ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement and that your information is accurate.
3. The Service
Penelope lets users ("Muses") host quests ("Quests") with a stated prize (a date, a phone number, or bragging rights), and lets other users ("Gladiators") submit entries to compete. Muses select winners at their sole discretion. Penelope doesn't guarantee any outcome, match, date, or interaction, and isn't responsible for what happens between users on or off the platform.
4. Accounts
You're responsible for your account's security and for all activity under it, and for keeping your information accurate.
5. User Content
You keep ownership of what you submit, but grant Penelope a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to run the Service (e.g., showing your entry to a Muse judging a quest, or generating a shareable invitation card). You confirm you have the right to share what you post.
6. Prizes and Meeting in Person
Prizes, including phone numbers, are offered voluntarily by Muses and awarded at their discretion. Penelope doesn't run background checks and can't verify anyone's identity or intentions. Exchanging contact information or meeting someone in person is entirely at your own risk — meet in public, tell a friend, trust your instincts.
7. Prohibited Conduct
No harassment, threats, impersonation, illegal or exploitative content, solicitation, fraud, or unauthorized access to other users' data.
8. Payments
Some features require payment, processed by our provider, Braintree. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts at any time for conduct that violates these Terms or harms other users.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is." Penelope is not liable for any user's conduct or for the outcome of any quest, date, or interaction.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you've paid us, if anything, in the prior 12 months.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
13. Governing Law
Governed by the laws of Canada.
